LIFE AFTER CAMPUS

LIFE AFTER CAMPUS

Fola Ogunsola Foundation kick started what has now become an annual programme for graduates. It is known as the Life after campus project. This project was inspired by the need to give back to the society through mentorship and career coaching in the area of attitude and employability empowerment.

It is solidly built on the promotion of human capital development which is key to nation building. On May 23rd 2012 and June 30th 2013, the University of Lagos played host to the first and second edition of this seminar. It was surely a case of one good turn deserving another.

In the same fashion, the Redeemers University also had an experience of the Life after Campus troupe who came to talk to the graduates on the expectations of the society in terms of their attitude to work and life as a whole.

We have also visited Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta,  Lagos City polytechnic and Afe Babalola University and Crown city Polytechnic, in Ekiti state in 2014.

The Seminar on attitude is the first and also the best strategy of reaching out to the graduates just at the point of their exit from the Campus. This is so because on the average, over 60 per cent of graduates failed to receive these useful trainings during school.

It addresses the major problem facing our graduates, which is unemployability, as mentioned above.

These seminar programmes goes beyond classroom lectures. It creates a platform for the students and career mentors to have a direct contact in other to discuss issues that affects life and work.

Objectives of the Programme

The objective of the seminar programme was informed by detailed research on available facts and consultations with stakeholders, and it is aimed at improving the state of the present system. Some of these objectives border on the major aspect of leadership, while the rest are centered on ways of institutionalizing a sustainable behavioral culture.

To make the students become aware of the issues causing their unemployability and how to address them in a professional way

To bridge the gap between the graduates and the employers of labour.

To bring about a value re-orientation among the youths

To provide a link for active participation of the stakeholders
