Attitude and Character Will Enhance Graduate Employability – RUN NEWS

Concerned about the alarming rate of graduate unemployability and buoyed by the need to stem the tide of unemployment in the economy, the Fola Ogunsola Foundation, led by the Managing Consultant of Finesse Group, Mrs. Fola Ogunsola, has charged the final year students of Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, to check their character and attitude to the things of life.
This was made known at a ‘Life after Campus Seminar’ themed, “Path to
Becoming an Employable Graduate”, held recently at the University
Auditorium.
While emphasising the need to imbibe good character and attitude in her presentation, “The Current Challenges of Graduates’ Unemployment”,
she stressed the need for self development of individual skills.
She added that “there is a serious disconnect between what a candidate can offer and what the market expects from candidate. It is a wide gap. A lot of our graduates have become unemployable. If a candidate possesses 50 per cent of what job seekers require, he will be employed without applying.”

Speaking on attitude, Mrs. Ogunsola said that a candidate attitude constitutes 32 per cent of employment possibilities, reiterating the common saying that attitude determines altitude”.
